Fishing Events 

Rockhampton has an annual fishing event calendar where anglers from all over Australia visit the region to try their hand at catching trophy Barra and King Threadfin – and compete to be the best! Events are listed below and also posted on the Fishing the Fitzroy Facebook page.

Frenchville Sports Club Barra Bash

The Fitzroy River Barra Bash is organised by the Frenchville Sports Club and is a tag and release event focusing on sports fishers.

Women That Fish Barra Classic

Founded in 2012, the Women That Fish Barra Classic (WTF) aims to empower women and build their confidence on the water as well as providing an amazing friendly atmosphere for all to enjoy. The Classic is open to ladies 18 years and over.

King of Kings

The King of Kings Tournament is a fishing competition where anglers compete to become the GT King (Giant Trevally) or Thready King. With over 20 target species, 20 cash prizes and two gold crowns to be won, it's a fun weekend away for keen fishermen.
