Open your eyes to Rockhampton
Every day we close our eyes and pretend we’re standing on top of the world looking down on a playground of everything we’ve ever wanted.
Then we open our eyes and realise it’s where we live, and where you’ll want to be.
The locals will tell you that if your fishing cast is big enough, you could catch a barra from your hotel balcony. A mum or dad will say it’s a cooling swim, and bike rides. Others will say it's the early morning fresh air, garden picnics, silence in our caves, our bush land, that moment before your drink is poured.
Some say 'a must' is a selfie with a cow. There are those who will wax lyrically about Rockhampton's iconic heritage. And of special significance, the cultural heart of our city that beats to the sounds of the traditional custodians of the land - the Darumbal people.
All of this comes together to form Rockhampton, as seen by the locals. No matter what your age, whatever the occasion, fireside or five star, feeling the grass between your toes or the fresh mountain air on your face, you'll never be bored. Because we never are.
With Qantas, Virgin and soon to be Bonza Airlines flying direct to Rockhampton from Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Brisbane and soon to be Sunshine Coast and Melbourne, it's never been easier travelling to Rockhampton and exploring like the locals do.
