Top spots for a BBQ in Rockhampton

Being on the road for weeks at a time can be expensive if you're foodies like us! If Rockhampton is on your drive itinerary, stock up on local produce while you're in town and cook up your favourite BBQ feast at these top spots around the region. 

FRASER PARK, MOUNT ARCHER

Fraser Park is located atop Mount Archer National Park and is home to the Mount Archer Amphitheatre and 500m elevated treetop boardwalk, Nurim Circuit. Located on the eastern side of the car park are a number of undercover BBQs and picnic tables under the shady gum trees. This BBQ spot by far offers up the best views around town and is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike catching our epic sunsets. Beautifully lit up at night, this BBQ spot is great for dining under the stars.

VICTORIA PARK

You don't have to be a master chef like local Chef Roel to cook up a delicious fish feed on the public BBQs found overlooking the Fitzroy River in Victoria Park. These fantastic undercover BBQs are elevated over the river, doubling as a great land based fishing platform meaning you can hook your catch and cook it up right then and there. Once you've finished your BBQ, stretch the legs with a shady stroll down Sir Raymond Huish Drive stopping into the adventure playground and skate park if you're travelling with the kids or enclosed dog park if travelling with the furbabies

KERSHAW GARDENS

This inner city oasis in the perfect spot to roll up to for a BBQ while you're on the road. Kershaw Gardens is a spacious and picturesque parkland that stretches for one kilometre along the Bruce Highway and boasts beautiful walking tracks, all ages and all abilities adventure playground and fantastic undercover free barbeques and picnic tables.

MOUNT MORGAN NO.7 DAM

The Mount Morgan No.7 Dam recreational area is a picturesque parkland approximately 2km from the town centre. Fit with BBQs and picnic tables nestled under the shady trees and an impressive undercover playground, it's a great place to pull up to after discovering the golden history of Mount Morgan. Grab your BBQ supplies in town from the local supermarket and roll out your picnic blanket and spend the afternoon soaking in the sun by the water. If you're a mountain bike or hiking lover, be sure to check out the 20km+ of trails that wrap around the dam while you're there.
